Parque Lázaro Cárdenas is a modest urban green space straddling the Eje Central between La Obrera and Doctores - one of the few trees for kilometers in any direction, which explains why it's packed most mornings. You'll find clusters of older adults, boxing classes, joggers, and dogs; the park's identity centers on a large sculpture of the former president. The gap between what it offers and what it can sustain is real: the dog area collects trash and is largely controlled by commercial walkers, nighttime lighting fails, homelessness and substance use are steady, and maintenance depends on sporadic municipal effort. It's a park loved out of necessity as much as merit.
Parque Lázaro Cárdenas does one thing well: it holds everyday neighborhood life in a part of Centro where green space is genuinely rare. The sculpture of the president himself is worth a look, but go understanding this is a park for locals, not a destination, and the dog area in particular is poorly kept
