Wake Up is the most serious coffee and breakfast operation in Punta Arenas - the kind of place where the eggs Benedict with salmon arrives poached with actual precision, and the specialty coffee gets made to order in a Chemex or V60 with the focus of a real bar. The French toast with berries and huevos rancheros with house-made salsa compete for attention, but it's the salmon Benedict that defines the place. Bilingual staff, purposeful music, and local art on the walls make it easy to stay longer than you planned. Two hard facts: there is no WiFi and laptops are not permitted - a firm policy that's clearly marked - so if you need to work, go elsewhere. Weekend waits to sit can run thirty minutes. Arrive early, and both problems disappear.

Explorer note

No WiFi and no laptops, both clearly posted, so settle that before you go. That aside, Wake Up is the best brunch spot in Punta Arenas by a real margin: the eggs Benedict with salmon is the thing to order, and the specialty coffee comes out of a Chemex or V60 with genuine care
