Puma House is a trekker's headquarters first, hotel second - small, warm, and run by people who've walked Torres del Paine so many times they know where your feet will hurt. The equipped kitchen, pre-dawn breakfasts, and free luggage storage handle the logistics; the gear rental (tents, poles, boots) undercuts most Puerto Natales outfitters and arrives in decent condition. What repeats across visitor accounts is the family feeling - you're staying with someone's operation, not checking into a business. Two things matter: some staff can turn dismissive or hostile without warning, and when rental equipment arrives damaged, the refund rarely squares fairly with the trouble. Inspect gear before you leave.
Puma House is the right base for Torres del Paine, not a place to linger. The staff knows the park the way guides do, gear rental runs cheaper than anywhere else in Puerto Natales, and breakfast is ready before dawn
